Fresh political uncertainty has emerged within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State following reports that some senatorial and legislative tickets may be reviewed ahead of the 2027 general elections, although the party is yet to issue any official confirmation.
Political discussions are intensifying across Benue State as speculation continues over the fate of some APC candidates who emerged from the party's primary elections.
Among the most discussed contests is the Benue North-East Senatorial District, where former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, has been reported by various political sources to have emerged from the party's primary process. However, fresh reports also suggest that the ticket remains the subject of internal disputes and possible legal challenges.
Serving Senator Emmanuel Udende, who currently represents Benue North-East in the Senate, has also been linked to ongoing political discussions surrounding the party's eventual candidate. As of the time of publication, the APC has not released any official statement confirming any change to its senatorial candidates.
In Benue South Senatorial District, unconfirmed reports have similarly suggested possible changes involving Senator Titus Tartenger Zam and another aspirant, Benjamin Aber. These reports remain speculative and have not been officially verified by the party.
Benue Info-pedia gathered from political sources that disagreements arising from the APC primary elections have contributed to uncertainty in several constituencies, including Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency and some State Assembly seats.
The situation has reportedly been complicated by ongoing court proceedings challenging aspects of the party's primary elections.
According to available information, a court directed parties involved in the dispute to maintain the status quo pending the determination of the matter.
Political observers say the outcome of these disputes could significantly influence the APC's preparations for the 2027 elections in Benue State.
The developments are unfolding against the backdrop of the widely reported political differences between Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, which many analysts believe have continued to shape alignments within the party.
However, no official statement has linked the reported ticket disputes directly to either political leader, and such claims remain matters of political interpretation.
The APC is yet to make a formal announcement regarding the final status of the affected candidacies.
