Government Secondary School (GSS), Gboko, Benue State, has won the Nestlé MILO Basketball Championship National Finals held in Lagos after completing an unbeaten campaign. The team recorded victories in all 17 matches played from the state qualifiers through the conference stage to the national finals.

Government Secondary School, Gboko has emerged as the winner of the Nestlé MILO Basketball Championship National Finals, securing one of the biggest achievements in school sports for Benue State.

According to information provided, the team remained unbeaten throughout the competition, winning all 17 matches played across the state qualifiers, conference finals, and the national finals before lifting the championship trophy in Lagos.

The victory reflects months of preparation, discipline, teamwork, and determination by the players and coaching crew, who successfully navigated every stage of the competition without suffering a defeat.

The achievement has also drawn attention to the contribution of the John Allagh Foundation, which was credited with providing jerseys, basketball shoes, basketballs, and financial support to the team throughout its campaign.

Supporters, members of the school community, and well-wishers have celebrated the victory, describing it as a proud moment for Gboko, Benue State, and school sports development in Nigeria.

The championship triumph is expected to inspire more young athletes across Benue State while highlighting the importance of sustained investment in grassroots sports development.
