ALIade, Gwer LGA, Benue State —Fresh market intelligence from Aliade Market in Gwer Local Government Area of Benue State shows varying prices for key agricultural commodities, including groundnut, maize, soya beans, rice paddy, melon (egusi) and bene seed.

The latest market snapshot, recorded on Friday, August 14, provides an indication of prevailing prices for farmers, traders, consumers and other stakeholders in the agricultural value chain.

Groundnut Prices Vary by Condition

Groundnut prices showed a noticeable difference between fresh and dried produce.

Fresh groundnut was reported at between ₦35,000 and ₦40,000 per bag, while dried groundnut sold for between ₦45,000 and ₦50,000 per bag.

The difference highlights the importance of product condition when assessing commodity prices at the market.

Egusi and Bene Seed Among Higher-Priced Commodities

Melon, commonly known as egusi, was reported at ₦150,000 per 50kg sack, while bene seed stood at ₦170,000 per 50kg sack.

Soya beans were priced at ₦100,000 per 50kg sack, making the three commodities some of the higher-priced agricultural products captured in the latest Aliade market snapshot.

Meanwhile, rice paddy was reported at ₦65,000 per 50kg sack, while guinea corn stood at ₦60,000 per 50kg bag.

Maize and Garri Prices

Maize was reported at ₦52,000 per 50kg sack, while garri sold for ₦30,000 per 50kg bag.

Fresh Produce

Red oil was reported at ₦1,500 per bottle, while a big bag of akpu was listed at ₦1,500.
