A family displaced by insecurity from Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State has appealed to Nigerians for urgent humanitarian assistance after the father reportedly developed glaucoma that has affected his eyesight, while their newborn triplets are said to require urgent medical attention.
Mr. Terpase Emmanuel and his wife say they were forced to flee their community following attacks in their area and are now living as internally displaced persons in Makurdi.
According to the family, they welcomed triplets—two girls and a boy—but their joy has been overshadowed by severe financial hardship and health challenges.
The father said he was previously a student of Taraba State University before developing glaucoma, which he says has already left him blind in one eye. He added that his remaining eye is also deteriorating and requires urgent medical treatment.
The couple further told Benue Info-pedia that their three babies have been seriously ill. According to the parents, the children had not urinated for four days and were taken to Vitality Clinic, High Level, Makurdi, where medical tests were reportedly recommended. However, the family said they could not afford the cost of the investigations and returned home without treatment.
Benue Info-pedia has not independently verified the family's medical claims or obtained medical records from the healthcare facility mentioned.
The family says they currently reside behind Pleasure Travels Park in Makurdi and are appealing for financial assistance to enable them access medical care.
