The Federal University of Lafia (FULAFIA) community has been thrown into mourning following the reported death of a 300-level Chemistry student, identified by colleagues as Habiba, in a suspected armed robbery attack near Kanje in Awe Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

According to accounts circulating within the university community, the incident occurred on Saturday as the student was returning to Lafia after attending the graduation ceremony of a friend at the College of Health Technology in Keffi.

Reports indicate that the vehicle conveying her came under attack by individuals suspected to be armed robbers along the Kanje axis. During the incident, she reportedly sustained gunshot injuries and later died.

As of the time of publication, the exact circumstances surrounding the attack, including the motive and sequence of events, had not been independently verified.

The news has generated widespread grief among students, lecturers and friends, many of whom described the deceased as humble, hardworking and full of promise.

A course mate, identified as Jona Mick, shared a tribute on Facebook expressing sorrow over the incident and praying for the peaceful repose of her soul.
