The Gboko Area Traditional Council has held a security meeting with the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) over recent child-kidnapping incidents reported in Gboko.

The meeting, held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, in Gboko, was led by the Ter Gboko, HRH Gabriel Gbanongun Shosum, alongside selected traditional rulers from the area.

During the meeting, the traditional ruler commended the Nigeria Police for what he described as a swift response and efforts that resulted in the arrest of suspects allegedly connected to the reported incidents.

According to the information provided, a woman allegedly implicated in the reported kidnapping of a newborn at Comprehensive Health Clinic, Gboko, was presented alongside suspects allegedly linked to the reported kidnapping of two children in Mbateriev.

Ter Gboko reportedly directed that the suspects be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (State CID) for further investigation and prosecution in accordance with the law.

The traditional ruler also visited the mother of the kidnapped child and directed that she receive appropriate medical attention and care following the reported incident.

The meeting highlights the role of collaboration between traditional institutions and security agencies in responding to crime and protecting vulnerable residents, particularly children.

The traditional council, security agencies and the wider community are expected to maintain cooperation as investigations into the reported incidents continue.
