Nigerian troops have recovered the bodies of Master Warrant Officer (retd.) Linus Musa Audu and Lance Corporal Gloria Mathew, who were abducted and killed by suspected IPOB gunmen in Imo State.

Nigerian security forces have recovered the bodies of a military couple allegedly killed by suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Imo State.

The victims, identified as Master Warrant Officer (retd.) Linus Musa Audu and Lance Corporal Gloria Mathew, were reportedly abducted before they were murdered by the assailants.

Military sources confirmed that troops discovered their bodies during an operation in the state, although details regarding the exact location and timeline of the incident remain unclear.

The killing adds to a series of violent attacks linked to armed groups operating in the South-East, where security personnel and civilians have increasingly become targets.

Despite repeated security operations in the region, incidents of abduction, killings, and attacks on security formations have persisted, raising concerns about the effectiveness of ongoing interventions.

Authorities are yet to issue a detailed official statement on the incident, while efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible are said to be ongoing.
