A mother in Korinya-City, Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State, has been praised for her bravery after reportedly risking her life to save her young son who accidentally fell into an open well within their family compound.

The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when the boy, identified as Tomuter, reportedly fell into the uncovered well.

According to the account shared by community sources, the mother immediately rushed to the scene after discovering what had happened.

Seeing her son struggling in the water, she reportedly entered the well without hesitation and lifted him above the water level to prevent drowning.

She remained inside the well with her child until neighbours arrived with a ladder and helped rescue both mother and son.

The incident has drawn admiration from residents, who described the mother’s action as a powerful example of parental love, courage, and sacrifice.

Beyond the emotional story, the incident also highlights concerns about the safety risks associated with uncovered wells, especially in homes and communities where children are present.

Community members and safety advocates continue to encourage households to properly cover wells and take preventive measures to avoid similar accidents.
