The Kogi State Police Command says it has rescued 15 people abducted along the Itobe–Anyigba Highway in Ofu Local Government Area following a gun battle with suspected kidnappers.

The incident occurred at about 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2026, between Ojuwo Ajengo and Mamerebo, along the Itobe–Achigili axis of the highway, an area identified as a kidnapping flashpoint.
