A female student of Taraba State University has reportedly been found dead in a hostel within the premises of Taraba State Polytechnic in Jalingo, in an incident friends of the deceased have described as an apparent suicide.

According to accounts attributed to her friends, the student had earlier attended a birthday celebration at a nightclub, where she was reportedly recorded on video. The friends claim the video was subsequently sent to her parents.

They further alleged that she later attempted to take her own life but was stopped.

She was subsequently found dead in the hostel, according to the accounts, and her body was taken to a hospital.
The circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear, and the claims attributed to friends have not been independently verified.

Authorities at the university, police and the hospital have not been cited as officially confirming the cause of death in the information available.
