Members of Mdzough U Kasev Tiv, Lafia Branch, on Sunday paid a royal homage to Ter Tiv II, Nasarawa State, Chief Iorvaa Geoffrey Esq., at his residence in Lafia, reaffirming their commitment to the Tiv traditional institution and appealing for greater unity among Tiv people.
LAFIA, NASARAWA STATE — Members of Mdzough U Kasev Tiv, Lafia Branch, on Sunday paid a royal homage to Ter Tiv II, Nasarawa State, Chief Iorvaa Geoffrey Esq., at his residence in Lafia, in a visit aimed at reaffirming loyalty to the Tiv traditional institution and promoting unity among Tiv communities.
According to a press statement issued by the Office of the Ter Tiv II, the delegation's visit featured prayers, cultural displays, and expressions of solidarity with the traditional leadership.
Speaking during the visit, Chief Iorvaa Geoffrey Esq. expressed appreciation to the delegation for the show of respect and support. He urged Tiv people to remain united under one leadership while preserving their cultural identity and values.
The leadership of Mdzough U Kasev Tiv, Lafia Branch, pledged continued support for the throne of the Ter Tiv II in Nasarawa State. The association also reaffirmed its allegiance to Prof. James Iorzua Ayatse, the Tor Tiv V, describing him as the supreme traditional authority of the Tiv people.
According to the statement, the visit reflected the association's commitment to strengthening unity, preserving Tiv cultural heritage, and promoting peace, progress, and social cohesion among Tiv communities in Nasarawa State and in the diaspora.
The delegation further appealed to Tiv sons and daughters to uphold the dignity of the Tiv traditional institution while maintaining peaceful coexistence with their host communities.
