Geoffrey Iorvaa, Ter Tiv II of Nasarawa State, has reaffirmed the importance of peaceful coexistence, cultural harmony and mutual respect among ethnic nationalities during the public presentation of Shared Roots, Shared Future: Tiv, Alago, Eggon and Migili in Harmony in Lafia.

LAFIA, NASARAWA STATE — His Royal Highness, Chief Barr. Geoffrey Iorvaa, Ter Tiv II of Nasarawa State, has called for stronger unity among Nigeria's diverse ethnic communities, describing dialogue, mutual respect and cultural understanding as essential foundations for lasting peace.

The royal father made the remarks on Saturday, 11 July 2026, while attending the public presentation of Shared Roots, Shared Future: Tiv, Alago, Eggon and Migili in Harmony, a book authored by Comrade Tor-kertyo Atim. The event took place at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) State Secretariat in Lafia.

The gathering attracted traditional rulers, government officials, scholars, community leaders, youth representatives and peace advocates from different parts of Nasarawa State.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Ter Tiv II commended the author for documenting the historical connections and shared cultural values of the Tiv, Alago, Eggon and Migili ethnic groups. He described the publication as a timely contribution to efforts aimed at promoting reconciliation, preserving cultural heritage and strengthening peaceful coexistence.

He encouraged citizens to build on their shared history by embracing dialogue, tolerance and cooperation in pursuit of sustainable development across the state.

The event featured goodwill messages from invited guests, colourful cultural performances and the formal presentation of the book to distinguished attendees. Organisers said the programme was designed to foster greater understanding among communities and encourage collaboration across ethnic divides.

In his appreciation, the Ter Tiv II noted that the publication represents another important milestone in advancing conversations around peacebuilding, inter-ethnic cooperation and social cohesion in Nigeria's Middle Belt.

The launch concluded with participants reaffirming their commitment to promoting unity, preserving cultural heritage and supporting initiatives that encourage peaceful coexistence among the people of Nasarawa State.
